Human Rights implications of Brexit

We have submitted evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights in Westminster.

The Joint Committee is conducting an inquiry into the human rights implications of Brexit and issued a call for evidence.

Our submission looks at some key areas which the Committee should explore in more detail:

• The particular importance of human rights frameworks in Northern Ireland
• The invisibility of human rights in the wider discussions on the implications of Brexit by the Government
• The scope of rights currently protected by EU legislation
• The importance of EU protections in realising rights of minorities in Northern Ireland
• The specific role of the EU in the the context of devolved government in Northern Ireland
